$72,072.00 -$74,229.26 The Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICUand Neuro ICU) has a combined total of 30 intensive care bedsdesigned to provide specialized care to the critically ill adult(14 and older) patient. The unit has a usual 50/50 split of patientpopulation between the neuro and surgical patient population. Thefocus of care includes patients with life-threatening conditionsrelated to major elective and emergency surgical procedures,multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke,seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instabilityand failure to wean. The SICU and Neuro ICU patient needs encompassbut are not limited to comprehensive physical assessments,intensive monitoring, treatment of laboratory values, ventilatormanagement and hemodynamic monitoring. SICU-Neuro ICU nursesrequire the following skill set – ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt,spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Suntherapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasivecardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renalreplacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massiveblood transfusion among others. Nursing will support the followingon-unit procedures including placement of arterial lines, centrallines, external ventricular drains and ICP monitors, SEPS drains,bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy,percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbarpunctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains and others.
Hourly Range:
$34.65 – $35.69 The nurse is responsible for:
- Implementation ofphysician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performstreatments, procedures and special tests, and document treatment asrequired by company policy and local/state/federal rules andregulations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests toidentify and assess patients’ conditions.
- Assess and evaluatepatient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
- Apply soundnursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Provideprimary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupationalinjuries and illnesses.
- Administer over-the-counter andprescription medications as ordered.
- Collaborate with the nursingteam to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
- Direct and guideancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which aDiploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred
- Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license
- Obtain andmaintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Excellent communication,prioritization, organizational and time-management skills
- Possessknowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solvingtools and techniques and demonstrates ability to apply in supportof departmental and patient care quality improvement.
