Job Description:

Our Nurses work incollaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams,focused on a patient centered care model in a richly diverse workspace. Under the direction and general supervision of the NurseManager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence based practices inaccordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies andprocedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff.

The registered nurse who through knowledge and ability uses thenursing process to develop a plan of care which includes standardsof practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural andeducational needs of the patient and family. Qualifications

MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS
Education:

Graduate of a school of nursing.

Experience:

One (1) year experience and/or successful completion ofThe William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.

License andCertification:

Current unrestricted License in good standing topractice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut. CurrentBasic Life Support (BLS) upon hire. Ability to obtain and maintaindepartment specific certifications.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education:

BSN or MSN.

Experience:

Two (2) or more years experiencein this specific clinical area.

License and Certification:

Certification in clinical area. CNOR certification

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Basic knowledge of Nursing principles andpractices. Ability to read and understand oral and writteninstructions. Communicates effectively in order to providetechnical or complex information as well as instruction. Excellentinterpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments,employees, physicians, managers and patients. Ability to handlemultiple priorities, be flexible and a team player. Ability to workin a stressful environment. Commitment to customer service. Basiccomputer knowledge in order to enter/retrieve data.

PROBLEM SOLVINGAND DECISION MAKING

Requires high level of analytical ability inorder to gather and interpret information from various sources.

Able to take the appropriate action in response to changes,circumstances, problems and/or emergency situations. Ability tomaintain confidentiality at all times. We take great care ofcareers.
