JOB SUMMARY
The Nursing Professional Development(NPD) Practitioner is a Register Nurse with NPD practice judgementand expertise who influence professional role competence and growthof learners. The NPD practitioner is responsible for supportinglearners within the context and framework of the NursingProfessional Development, Scope and Standards practice as approvedby the American Nurses Association. This position works incollaboration with nursing leadership to foster and influencecompetency management, clinical nursing education, professionalrole development, policy standardization, collaborativepartnerships, scientific inquiry, transition to practice andonboarding/orientation of new Hartford HealthCare colleagues. Thepractitioner is an essential member of the nursing leadership teamwho promotes the alignment of regional NPD and practice excellencewith the HHC system as a whole. Qualifications BSN required;enrollment in a Master’s program with degree completion within twoyears of hire date preferred. Minimum of 3 years of active clinicalnursing experience with at least 1 year of operating roomexperience. Experience as a preceptor. One year of relevantteaching experience preferred, nursing professional developmentand/or specialty area preferred. Licensure, Certification,Registration
- Licensed Registered Nurse from the CT DPH obtainedprior to hire date.
- NPD or Clinical Specialty Certificationwithin two years of hire hire/transfer
- BLS required Knowledge,Skills and Ability Requirements
- Demonstrates ability to develop,deliver and evaluate educational programs.
- Working knowledge ofhigh reliability and LEAN process improvement strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to education as amethodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in thedelivery of patient care and services.
- Knowledge of theprinciples/theories of adult learning.
- Knowledge of unit basedorientation plans.
- Strong skills in the process of educationalneeds assessments.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbaland written.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in afast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work independently aswell as part of a collaborative team.
