$68,640.00 – $70,699.20 The PediatricIntensive Care Unit (PICU), is a 19-bed multidisciplinary unit thatcares for the most critically ill children in our area. Treatingpatients 0-21 years of age experiencing, but not limited to,respiratory illness, trauma, sepsis, neurological disorders anddiabetic ketoacidosis. The PICU also cares for patients who requirecomplex surgical intervention that includes neurosurgery andpediatric open-heart surgery. Our PICU nurses’ staff the pediatriccritical care transport team, travelling to outside facilities tostabilize and safely return patients to Albany Medical Center toreceive the specialized care they need.
Hourly Range:
$33.00 -$33.99 Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but not limitedto:
- Implements physician orders, administers medications, startsIVs, performs treatments, procedures and special tests, anddocument treatment as required by company policy andlocal/state/federal rules and regulations.
- Orders, interprets,and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’conditions.
- Assesses and evaluates patient needs for, andresponses to, care rendered.
- Applies sound nursing judgment inpatient care management decisions.
- Provides primary and emergencycare for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administers over-the-counter and prescription medications asordered.
- Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan ofCare for all patients.
- Directs and guides ancillary personnel andmaintain standards of professional nursing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which aDiploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred.
- Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Obtains andmaintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Previous experience as a PCA orother nursing assistance preferred.
- Ability to improve jobperformance through continuing education.
- Possesses knowledge ofquality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools andtechniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support ofdepartmental and patient care quality improvement.
