W Elective Orthopedics:

B3West is a24-bed unit, private rooms in the post-surgical services. Theprimary population is elective orthopedic surgery & Total Jointsurgery. The nursing staff cares for post-surgical patients as wellas orthopedic trauma and general medical-surgical patients. TheClinical Nurse contributes to the creation of a compassionate andcaring environment for patients, families, and colleagues throughdisplays of kindness and active listening. Recognizes andappreciates that each employee’s work is valuable and contributesto the success of the Mission. Essential Duties & Responsibilitiesinclude but not limited to:

  • Implements physician orders,administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments,procedures and special tests, and document treatment as required bycompany policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify andassess patients’ conditions.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient needsfor, and responses to, care rendered.
  • Applies sound nursingjudgment in patient care management decisions.
  • Provides primaryand emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuriesand illnesses.
  • Administers over-the-counter and prescriptionmedications as ordered.
  • Collaborates with the nursing team tocreate a Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Directs and guidesancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a professional academicnursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree orBaccalaureate Degree is conferred
  • Must hold current NYSRegistered Nurse license
  • Obtains and maintains certification inBasic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surgor Progressive Care
  • Excellent communication, prioritization,organizational and time-management skills
  • Possesses knowledge ofquality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools andtechniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support ofdepartmental and patient care quality improvement.
