W Elective Orthopedics:
B3West is a 24-bed unit, private rooms inthe post-surgical services. The primary population is electiveorthopedic surgery & Total Joint surgery. The nursing staff caresfor post-surgical patients as well as orthopedic trauma and generalmedical-surgical patients. The Clinical Nurse contributes to thecreation of a compassionate and caring environment for patients,families, and colleagues through displays of kindness and activelistening. Recognizes and appreciates that each employee’s work isvaluable and contributes to the success of the Mission. EssentialDuties & Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Implementsphysician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performstreatments, procedures and special tests, and document treatment asrequired by company policy and local/state/federal rules andregulations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic teststo identify and assess patients’ conditions.
- Assesses andevaluates patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
- Applies sound nursing judgment in patient care managementdecisions.
- Provides primary and emergency care for occupationaland non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administersover-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
- Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for allpatients.
- Directs and guides ancillary personnel and maintainstandards of professional nursing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which aDiploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred
- Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license
- Obtains andmaintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Minimum of 1-3 years of previousclinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care
- Excellentcommunication, prioritization, organizational and time-managementskills
- Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, andproblem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrates ability toapply in support of departmental and patient care qualityimprovement.
