Anopportunity to gain and practice critical care skills in thefollowing areas: Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU, Medical ICU, CoronaryCare Unit, Cardiovascular ICU , and our intermediate care ICU- theMSICU. RNs in the Critical Care Float pool also have theopportunity to gain additional competencies in Emergency Departmentcare and neuro-progressive care areas. You will have theopportunity to work in all the Critical Care areas at the Region’sonly Level I trauma center. JobDescription:
- Implements physician orders, administersmedications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures andspecial tests, and document treatment as required by company policyand local/state/federal rules and regulations.
- Orders,interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assesspatients’ conditions.
- Assesses and evaluates patient needs for,and responses to, care rendered.
- Applies sound nursing judgmentin patient care management decisions.
- Provides primary andemergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries andillnesses.
- Administers over-the-counter and prescriptionmedications as ordered.
- Collaborates with the nursing team tocreate a Plan of Care for all patients.
- Directs and guidesancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which aDiploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred
- Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license
- Obtains andmaintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Minimum of 1-3 years of previousclinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care
- Excellentcommunication, prioritization, organizational and time-managementskills
- Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, andproblem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrates ability toapply in support of departmental and patient care qualityimprovement.
