Summary Underthe supervision of a Nurse Leader and the direction of theRegistered Nurse, the Student Nurse Technician is responsible forperforming specific duties that support patient care, whichincludes direct and indirect patient care activities that areessential to providing a safe and efficient care environment. Thisposition performs selected interventions and activities thatcontribute to providing comprehensive care to patients inaccordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards,policies, and procedures. In addition, along with the care team,this position is responsible for ensuring a positive patientexperience. This role performs in a high activity work environmentwith multiple priorities and necessitates flexibility inscheduling. Student Nurse Technicians must be actively enrolled inan accredited ASN or BSN Nursing program.
- Assists the RN and thenursing care team by performing nursing care measures thatcontribute to the daily management of patient care. Upholdsinfection prevention standards.
- Performs and assists with directpatient care: bathing, grooming, oral / denture care, perinealcare, toileting, elimination, feeding, positioning, repositioningand ambulation.
- Performs interventions: specimen collection,urinary catheter care, Point of Care Testing.
- Obtains and recordsvital signs using the electronic medical record.
- Assists inmaintaining a clinical environment that is clean, safe and freefrom clutter.
- Reports deviations and changes in patient status ina timely manner to the RN.
- Performs EKG and/or Phlebotomy dutiesbased on assigned unit, hospital, and / or need.
- Performs otherrelated duties as required. Qualifications
- Must be able to readand understand oral and written instructions, and effectivelycommunicate information in English required
- Current enrollment inan accredited ASN or BSN program and in good academic standingrequired
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the AmericanHeart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hiredate or job transfer date required
- High school diploma or GEDpreferred.
- Acute care experience as a nursing assistant preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
- EPIC experiencepreferred.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use skillful communication with members ofthe healthcare delivery team and with patients. Uses communicationskills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positivepatient outcomes and experience.
- Ability to read and understandmedical terminology.
- Phlebotomy technology skills
- 12 LeadEKG/telemetry lead placement skills
- Demonstrates fiscalresponsibility in time management, resources and use of supplies
- Ability to manage time and productivity without immediatesupervision.
- Strong customer service skills.
