JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the health care provider, theLVN is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotessafety.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs general patientcare by following established standards and procedures. Greets andprepares patients for the health care provider. Obtains and recordsvital signs including, but to limited to: blood pressure,temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies,current medications and presenting problem. Administers orderedmedications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal,ophthalmic and/or inhalant administration. May be required to drawand collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens forlaboratory analysis as well as perform routine tests such as EKG’s.

Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensurecompletion of testing. Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests andexamination results in the medical record as directed by theprovider. Communicates with patient regarding test results and planof care by phone or mail as directed by physician. Prepares, cleansand sterilizes instruments and maintains equipment, disposing ofcontaminated items according to protocol. Keeps patient exam roomsstocked, clean and orderly. Escalates non-routine issues, questionsand/or concerns to the Practice Manager or healthcare provider(s).Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed asrequired. Provides for patient safety and protection of patientprivacy rights Performs other duties as assigned by PracticeManager, Clinic Coordinator, Clinic Director or healthcareprovider(s).

SKILLSBasic computer skills

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Highschool diploma or GED License as LVN in good standing with TexasBoard of Nursing Basic Life Support or able to obtain within 60days of hire 1 year of medical assisting/clinical experience ispreferred. 1 year of Pediatric care experience preferred.

LANGUAGESKILLS

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verballyand in writing. Additional languages preferred.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS

Able to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis to 42″ Ableto life 10-20 lbs. daily, Able to lift 50-80 lbs. occasionallyStanding and walking for extended periods
