Full Job Description Job Requirements Quality/No Harm:

Facilitates the process for the staff to assume responsibility for maintaining competency in practice. Supports the National Patient Safety Goals. Incorporates elements of safety in education planning and presentation. Facilitates Learning by creating an environment in a clinical setting or classroom that assists in the achievement of desired cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes. In collaboration with the Clinical Education Specialists, designs and or facilitates professional development educational activities based on current research and evidence based practice and that meet organizational goals and objectives. Implements and adjusts a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs, desired learner outcomes, content, and context by using principles of adult learning. Grounds teaching strategies in educational theory, evidence-based teaching practices and research-based nursing practice. Models critical and reflective thinking and serves as a role model of professional nursing. Creates opportunities for learners to develop their critical thinking and critical reasoning skills. Serves as an educational resource and supports staff development for the departments. Performs learning needs assessments (by using a variety of strategies and tools) to facilitate practice and process changes in area of expertise. Facilitates and evaluates unit-based orientation and/or cross-training. Pursues Continuous Quality Improvement in the Nurse Educator role, recognizing an ongoing commitment to develop and maintain competence in the role and to pursue continuous quality improvement in that role.

Stewardship:

Uses assessment and evaluation strategies to assess and evaluate learning. Functions effectively within the Education Environment. Knowledgeable about the education environment within which they practice and recognizes how the political, legislative, institutional, social and economic forces impact their role. Models cultural and generational sensitivity to others. Develops networks, collaborations, and partnerships to enhance nursing’s influence within Health First. Acts as a resource to all caregivers regarding nursing practice and use of equipment/supplies in area of expertise.

Customer Experience:

Facilitates Learner Development by recognizing their educator responsibility for helping students develop based on Benner’s theory. Identifies individual learning styles and unique learning needs of learners. Provides resources to diverse learners that help meet their individual learning needs. Engages in effective advisement and counseling strategies that help learners meet their professional goals. Provides direct assistance and supervision of staff for the improvement of patient care or education and training of staff. Assists learners to develop the ability to engage in thoughtful and constructive self and peer evaluation. Collaborate with nursing leadership to support action plans with learning experiences. Work Experience

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Current RN Florida license. BSN preferred. Specialty certification preferred. Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.

ACLS, ENCP, NRP, PALS

preferred based on specialty. Minimum of 2-5 years clinical experience. Previous nursing management or education experience preferred. Highly developed organizational skills to include time management and problem solving. Highly developed communication skills both verbal and non-verbal. Excellent customer and interpersonal skills. Previous precepting experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to walk, move rolling equipment and/or chairs, stand/sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to speak with clear distance voice. Good physical condition – able to lift, push or move equipment up to 25 lbs. without assistance. Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to use computers. Must be able to hear.

MENTAL DEMANDS

Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time, coordinate multiple tasks and interact with multiple departments. Must be self-directed and self-motivated. Able to prioritize work load and manage time. Ability to quickly decide on interventions concerning appropriate therapy and patient care. Ability to assess and interpret data and educate associates of various ages and level of understanding. Benefits
