Job Summary :

A Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS Tele RN) providespatient care for adults with acute medical conditions,post-surgical needs, and those requiring telemetry monitoring. TheMS Tele RN monitors patients’ cardiac rhythms, administersmedications, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team todeliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

KeyResponsibilities :

The MS Tele RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursingcare for patients with acute or chronic conditions. This includesmonitoring patients’ vital signs and cardiac telemetry readings forabnormalities or arrhythmias, administering medications,treatments, and interventions as prescribed by the physician, andusing telemetry equipment to continuously monitor and interpretcardiac rhythms. They identify and respond to changes in patients’cardiac rhythms or vital signs, reporting significant findings tothe physician or rapid response team promptly. In addition tomonitoring, the MS Tele RN maintains accurate and detailed patientrecords, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, whiledocumenting telemetry monitoring findings and nursing actions inaccordance with hospital policies. They work closely withphysicians, case managers, physical therapists, and otherhealthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Educatingpatients and their families about medical conditions, treatments,and post-discharge care, as well as providing emotional support tothose dealing with serious or life-changing conditions, is anintegral part of the role. The MS Tele RN recognizes and respondsto signs of patient deterioration or emergency situations such ascardiac arrest, participating in rapid response or code blueevents, and performing life-saving interventions such as CPR ordefibrillation when necessary. Ensuring patient safety by adheringto infection control protocols and medication administrationguidelines is essential. The MS Tele RN also advocates forpatients’ needs and ensures their rights are respected, whilemanaging high-acuity patients and prioritizing care effectively.

Qualifications :

The MS Tele RN must have an active Registered Nurse (RN) license inthe practicing state and an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) orBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Basic Life Support (BLS) andAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required,and Telemetry Nurse Certification is preferred. Previous experiencein medical-surgical or telemetry nursing is ideal, although newgraduates with strong clinical skills and telemetry training may beconsidered.
