ABrief Overview Responsible for coordinating patient care onassigned shift. Responsible for the nursing care of patientsrequiring substantial specialized judgment and skill. This judgmentand skill is based on knowledge of the natural, behavioral andnursing sciences and humanities as the basis for application of thenursing process in wellness and illness care. Models appropriatebehavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. What youwill do Coordinates unit operations for assigned shift, includingscheduling, patient assignments, monitoring of unit activities andcollaborates with other departments to ensure effectiveness ofoperations and the delivery of quality patient care. Coordinatesand ensures that patient assessments are performed accurately andtimely. Coordinates/develops a prioritized holistic plan of carebased on a comprehensive assessment, desired outcomes and currentknowledge. Coordinates/safely implements the plan of care forpatients, either directly or by delegation. Ensures the patientplan of care is evaluated on a continuous basis. Effectivelycommunicates in writing and orally with patients/families and otherhealth team members. Demonstrates leadership & promotesprofessional practice of all members of nursing care team. Performsother duties as assigned or requested. Education/Formal TrainingRequirements Bachelor’s Degree Nursing

Ability to understand complex written materials, such as patientrecords. Ability to communicate verbally with all levels ofassociates and management, physicians and patients and theirfamilies. Ability to work without close supervision and to exerciseindependent judgment in a professional area. Ability to work withinand interdisciplinary environment as a member of a team dedicatedto shared patient-family responsibilities. Ability to organizemultiple tasks and projects and maintain control of work flow.

Supervision Provided by this Position Directs and delegates allpatient care activities on nursing units. Physical Demands Thephysical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing,standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping,and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. Thephysical requirements of this position are: medium work
