Nursing Full Job Description Overview:

The cardiothoracic-vascular Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients in select phases of Perioperative care (as competency demonstrates). This care utilizes the nursing process and the standards of care of a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and functions as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/ tasks may be delegated to Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Associated, Guest Associates and Anesthesia Technologists. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the RN manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
Required Education:

: Associates degree.

Specific course work:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred Education:

: Bachelors Degree in

Nursing and Specialty Certification Required Licensure/Certifications:

: Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.

Preferred Licensure/Certifications:

:

Professional Specialty Certification Required Experience:

: 1-2 years OR experience

Preferred Experience:

: 2+ years of relevant perioperative nursing experience

Necessary Skills:

: 1. Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team 2. Demonstrates a willingness to learn new methods, procedures and techniques resulting from departmental or organizational change 3. Adapts quickly and easily to change and adjusted behavior and approach to work when necessary to achieve goals 4. Adheres to hospital and Florida Nurse Practice Act guidelines in providing patient care. 5. Familiar with medical/surgical equipment used in patient care environment
