Clinical Research Nurse II (Neurology) Job Description The Clinical Research Nurse II plays a crucial role in planning, coordinating, evaluating, and performing nursing care for participants involved in assigned research projects. Working under limited supervision, this position requires adherence to study-specific protocol guidelines and effective communication with principal investigators, sub-investigators, clinical research leads, and support staff. The role involves advocating for patient care while ensuring compliance with clinical trial protocols, FDA regulations, and ICH/GCP guidelines. Responsibilities Deliver safe care and respect the dignity of all research participants. Maintain clinical competencies, including physical assessments, phlebotomy, and IV insertion. Adhere to Universal Precautions and HIPAA regulations. Ensure the clinical space is clean and prepared, performing set-up and turnover procedures as needed. Participate in training programs to maintain licensure. Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, investigators, and sponsors. Review informed consent documents in accordance with FDA, state, federal, and institutional regulations. Manage multiple clinical trial protocols, ensuring accurate and timely documentation. Advise the Principal Investigator and other stakeholders of trial deviations and issues affecting trial integrity. Coordinate the work of support staff to ensure high-quality results and adherence to protocols. Essential Skills Experience in clinical trials and data collection. Proficiency in dose calculations and neurology. Ability to perform consenting and data collection tasks. Registered Nurse with clinical research experience. Understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. Ability to perform EKG and other study-related tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to perform clinical tasks and assist with minor procedures. Adaptability to integrate into various clinical settings. Skills in physical assessment, phlebotomy, IV insertion, and investigational drug administration. Associate degree in Nursing. Minimum of 2 years of clinical research experience. Current active State of Florida license as a Registered Nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Work Environment The role is based in a hospital setting, providing a dynamic and collaborative environment for conducting clinical research.
