Description Job Summary Responsible for the planning anddelivery of care utilizing nursing processes: assessment,implementation and evaluation. Oversees the plan of care, utilizeseffective problem solving strategies, and applies evidence basedpractices. Supports and upholds quality standards of a Magnetdesignated hospital and Patient Bill of Rights. Providescompassionate and family centered care for Urgent Care Center (UCC)patients. Practices under the supervision of the NursingManager/Director. Job Specific Duties Communicates patient’sprogress including critical findings & changes in condition withphysician and/or disciplines involved in the care of the child.
Performs and documents discharge instructions. Completes intakes toprepare patient to be seen by the medical team including vitalsigns, weight, height, symptoms, and history. Delegates nursingcare based on knowledge of staff qualifications and competency.
Performs intake assessment on patients with an emergency condition.
Performs nursing treatments and follows physician team orders formedication administration, IV hydration, aerosol respiratorysupport, etc. on assigned patients. Plans, coordinates, andimplements a transfer to a higher level of care for EMTALAtransfers. Obtains parental immunization consent for everyimmunization administered per policy. Assists Physician inprocedures (I&D, lacerations, sutures removal) as needed.
Follows physician’s orders, checks labs, tests, and administerspatient medications when needed. Adheres to six rights ofmedication administration per Medication administration policy.
Assesses IV sites after removal of IV to check for infiltration andredness. Ensures safe analgesics/narcotics administration,monitoring and reassessment as per hospital Pain Management policyand procedure. Asses electronic health record independentlyaccording to hospital policy and completes accurate and timelydocumentation within 24 hours in the patient’s electronic healthrecord. Communicates with patients and families to review plan ofcare and solicits input. Communicates any patient and familyconcerns to physician. Provides education and documentspatient/family teachings on health related needs (i.e. disease,medications, treatments, pain, discharge, safety, nutrition, skincare, etc.). Promotes a safe “error free” working environment byconsistently performing thorough hand-offs (utilizing SBAR) andinfection prevention measures. Ensures safe/effective/efficientcare delivery with emphasis on absence of medication errors & bloodborne infections, avoidance of falls from surface, ouch-freeprocedural pain, & reduction of pain. Completes chart reviewsobserve for Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance. Completescharges on all assigned patients. Demonstrates proper personalprotective equipment (PPE) indication and use. Meets or exceedsunit standards in achieving a 95% CEI; completes documentation in atimely manner; accountable to regulatory and requirements of the
DNV, CMS, DOH, & ACHA.
Provides continuous supervision, observationof behavioral health patients, and adheres to non-violent crisisintervention strategies (CPI). Qualifications Minimum JobRequirements RN
- Registered Nurse RN Licensure within the State ofFlorida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC)

- American Heart AssociationPALS maintain active and in good standing throughout employmentRequired within 2 years of hire CPI
- Crisis Prevention Instituterequired within 180 days of hire or transfer into the position-maintain active and in good standing throughout employmentKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities BSN degree or currently enrolledin a BSN degree program.
1 year of experience as an RN in aPediatric ED/UCC or ICU setting preferred.
Career Development:
National certification Certified Pediatric Nurse (i.e. ANCC, CPN,or RNBC) preferably within 5 years of hire. PEARS (PediatricEmergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization) completionwithin two years of hire
- maintain active and in good standingthroughout employment.
Proficiency in computers and ElectronicMedical Record (EMR) preferred. Possesses a passion for learning.
Able to analyze and interpret data and utilize the information tomake judgments regarding patient care. Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills. Able to work effectively in a collaborativeenvironment. Ability to apply principles of evidenced-basedpractice, analytical thinking and service excellence in practice.
Able to float to various urgent care centers as needed whilemaintaining the delivery of clinical excellence and high qualityservice. Able to pick up on-call assignment per department andhospital policy.
