Effectively supervise residents, employees, families, visitors and the public. Make prompt and accurate nursing care and supervisory judgments. Accurately administer nursing bedside are specific to the elderly and others needing long-term care services. Effectively communicate with residents, staff, families, visitors and others and convey a sense of caring, concern and dignity for the residents. Tolerate, handle and/or resolve conflicts among and between staff, residents, visitors and others. Perform essential functions of the job, in a manner that benefits residents of the facility and complies with business necessity. Give and receive condition report from the on-coming and off-going shift. Give direct nursing care to residents. Direct the day-to-day functions of AL staff and other staff being supervised. Give treatments to residents per house policy and physicians’ orders. Visit all assigned residents at regular intervals during tour of duty. Notify physician when resident’s condition warrants. Perform administrative duties such as the documenting of Nurses’ notes Doctors’ orders, discharge plans, reports. Resident Assessment and Comprehensive Care Plans Billing and other charge slips Miscellaneous forms, charts, etc. Chart pertinent facts and information in a professional, clear and comprehensive manner. Admit, transfer and discharge residents, according to policy. Recognize and respond to changes in residents’ conditions and document observations, interventions and outcomes. Monitor and/or record follow through for signatures of telephone orders from physicians. Conduct and/or monitor prescribed treatments. Perform emergency procedures such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and, in the event of death, notify family and funeral home. Recognize, intervene and report accidents and incidents, when they occur. Monitor and update care plans, each shift, as appropriate. Supervise and participate in fire safety and other disaster drills, and be prepared to carryout duties, in the event of an actual fire or disaster. Recognize, intervene and/or report complaints and grievances from residents, families, visitors and employees. Monitor the unit for possible health and safety hazards. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions and other information relating to residents, employees and facility. Follow the established universal precautions and isolation procedures. Notify supervisor of pending absence or tardiness within the time frame described in the personnel handbook. Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in residents’ personal and healthcare needs. Follow established smoking regulations and report violations. Perform other related duties, as assigned by supervisor. The Assisted Living Nurse will have at least two years of experience working in a hospital, long-term care facility or other senior living community with training or experience implementing total patient care and care planning and in making sound nursing judgments. In addition, the Nurse will be familiar with the policies, regulations and procedures of assisted nursing facilities. It is preferred that the Nurse will have taken courses in nursing management or supervision and in geriatric rehabilitative and restorative nursing. CORE training is also preferred.
