POSITION SUMMARY
The Licensed IV Infusion Nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care to patients and families in the clinic under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing (DON). The IV Infusion Nurse is expected to work well with every member of the clinical team to provide safe, high quality and efficient care to a patient population diverse in age, health status, and socio-economic level. This position requires strong team work and communication skills with the care team.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduate of an accredited
School of Nursing Licensure:
Florida license (RN or LPN-with IV certification) BLS certification Computer literacy Experience mixing and preparing IVs
- Required 2 years’ experience IV Infusion
- Required Experience in Rheumatology
- Preferred Bilingual Preferred
RESPONSIBILTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
include, but are not limited to, the following: Screen patients according to CFHC’s protocols (obtaining height, weight, vital signs) Accurately obtain patient’s medical history. Educate patients per treatment plan (diet, exercise, medication) Prepare and administer IV infusions/injections according to position requirements (Intravenous, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intradermal) per provider orders Assess patient throughout infusion session for adverse reactions Document procedures and patient responses in the patients’ electronic medical record (EMR) Respond to side effects, adverse reactions, and anaphylaxis or emergencies during infusion Collect routine lab specimens Maintain strict infection control (maintaining, performing procedures, needle disposal) Understand the requirements of CFHC’s Exposure Control Plan and utilize universal precautions Maintain exam rooms and work areas (keeping rooms well-stocked, orderly, and clean, to include disinfecting exam tables between patients as per infection control policy) Accurately make/cancel/reschedule appointments in the computer appointment system Complete and ensure accuracy of clinical logs (IV infusions, medications administration) Maintain patient concerns within EMR, communicate with patients via telephone, patient portal, keep team members updated regarding clinical changes Comply with all policies, procedures, state, and federal medical regulations Report as needed to Nurse Manager or DON any pertinent information impacting patient care Attend and participate in mandatory meetings (center Specific meetings, Corporate meetings, and other meetings as designated by the Nurse Manager, DON or CMO Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Collaborate with physicians and other members of the clinical team Complete all duties, responsibilities, and competencies in a manner that is appropriate to the age groups to whom care/services are being provided. Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times Other duties as assigned by the clinician, Nurse Manager, DON, or
CMO. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(Subject to Change) Requires 80% or more time spent standing/walking Independently mobile Ability to lift weight equivalents to what would be required when occasionally assisting and positioning patients, repositioning equipment, and lifting supplies Ability to adapt and function in varying environments of workload, patient acuity, worksites, and work shifts.
