Role:
The Night Newborn Nurse plays a crucial role in providing specialized care for newborns during the night shift, ensuring their health and well-being while supporting new parents. This position involves monitoring the vital signs of infants, administering medications as prescribed, and providing education to parents about newborn care. The nurse will be responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment for the babies, addressing any concerns that may arise during the night. Additionally, the Night Newborn Nurse will collaborate with pediatricians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans tailored to each infant’s needs. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to promote healthy development in newborns and provide peace of mind to families during the critical early days of life.
Minimum Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing degree. Experience in neonatal care or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Previous experience working in a hospital nursery or neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Advanced training in pediatric nursing.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and assess the health status of newborns throughout the night. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the attending physician. Educate and support parents on newborn care practices, including feeding, bathing, and safe sleep. Document all care provided and any changes in the infant’s condition in the medical records. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care for each newborn.
