Position Summary The Registered Nurse plays an integral role in providing high quality customer service and clinical care (pursuant to scope of license) to facility customers. The RN is responsible for leading and supporting the goals for shift objectives to enhance team efficiency and customer satisfaction. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Initiates and leads team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans. Performs efficiently in emergency patient care situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning. Documents patient care and unit activities in a timely, accurate, and concise manner. Accurately and promptly implements physicians’ orders. Obtain data for electronic Admission Data Record. Administers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments for assigned residents, and documents that treatment as required by facility, local, state and federal rules and regulations. Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel. Assists physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice Act. Ensures that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner. Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments. Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in residents. Motivates and provides work direction (direct, check, review, organize and coordination) to C.N.A’s and unit coordinator (no authority to hire, fire or discipline). Supervises nursing unit, which includes directing the nursing staff to extent permitted by state practice act. Team members are expected to adhere to facility safety requirements, report unsafe practices or equipment, wear gait belt (as duties require) and use the appropriate protective equipment as needed. During the course of duties team members may have the opportunity to lift, twist, pull or push. Team members must be able to manage these activities up to 60 lbs. Any accident or incident must be reported immediately to a Nursing Unit Manager for proper treatment and recording. Follows center no-smoking policy Adhere to infection control standards and policy HIPAA Team members are required to adhere to policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information. Team member are permitted to use and/or disclose only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to facility CEO Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Analytical abilities necessary in order to evaluate delivery of care systems and nursing results; respond to deficiencies by identifying and implementing appropriate corrective action. Self-directing with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision. Ability to react decisively and swiftly in emergency situations. Proficient with English language. Good verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills. Flexibility in responding courteously to immediate needs of internal and external customers; ability to establish priorities and maintain productivity despite numerous interruptions. Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with team members, customers and visitors; cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in diverse workplace and with a diverse customer population. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to work cooperatively with a variety of the center teammates including, managers, executives and line staff. Ability to react decisively and swiftly in emergency situations. Required Education /Experience High School Diploma or General Equivalent Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program Active and unexpired Florida RN license Current CPR certification Six months nursing experience Preferred Education/Experience Bachelors of Science in Nursing from an accredited college/university 1-3 years of experience in acute care Must be able to pass a level II criminal background check Must be able to successfully pass a drug screening
