3×12 Days Materials Handling •Infectious Diseases • Follows all hospital guidelines outliningstandards of personal appearance, attendance and punctuality. Basedon the Competency Program established for direct care providers,possesses the skills and competencies necessary to perform jobfunction in accordance with population served criteria. Performs anursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission. Thedata collected forms the basis of an individualized plan of care.

Identifies teaching needs and goals related to the diagnosis ofeach patient from the nursing admission assessment and byResponsible and accountable for accurate, succinct and timelydocumentation of all assessments, interventions and patient’sresponse in the medical record in accordance with policy.

Participates in the patient rehabilitation program on an assignedunit. Is responsible and accountable for direct patient care byutilizing the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementingand evaluating patient care with a priority on the education of thepatient/family/significant other based on the health care needsidentified. Uses a positive and encouraging approach to achievepatient goals and quality outcomes. Initiates discharge planning onall patients from the day of admission. Communicates all pertinentinformation regarding changes in patient’s status from one careprovider to another, to support continuity of care and patientsafety. This includes the attending physician and the Charge Nurse.

Seeks consultation from more senior nursing staff in support ofcomplex clinical decision-making. Provides direction, training andsupervision of ancillary nursing personnel by utilizing problemsolving techniques in decision making, organizing, settingpriorities and using time effectively. Provides for and assurespersonal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital andnursing policies and procedures. Positively contributes to thefunctioning of the unit by providing calm direction and reassuranceto ancillary staff, other departments, Participates in teambuilding activities on the unit to create a positive and efficientwork environment. Maintains communication with manager and seniornursing staff related to service needs such as necessary supplies,equipment (including repairs) and clinical training in order toeffectively complete assigned duties. Provides care in a costeffective manner while promoting quality patient outcomes, monitorssupplies and charges. Prioritizes activities and plans foreffective use of time and staff in meeting patient needs.
