Sign-on Bonus Eligible Position Summary:

Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing processin accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatment. Performs initial physiological needs assessment on patients uponadmission and performs shift psychosocial needs assessment duringeach shift. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Prepares, administers, assesses and documents the effectiveness ofmedication administration. Evaluates patient response to all procedures and interventionscarried out both on a physical and psychological basis. Assesses patient’s psychological response to hospitalization anddiagnosis each shift. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being ofthe patient.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compactState required Bachelor’s degree preferred Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action. Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shiftpatterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity ofcare and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients ofSovah Health Danville on all units. Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required
