PACU/Pre Op Nurse Responsibilities:

Prepare and review patient records, charts and other pertinent information including a current H&P as well as all operative and informed consents Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure Consult and coordinate with health care team members to provide bedside care for pre- and post-surgery patients Initiate IVs required before or following procedure Assess patients’ post-operative condition, monitoring vital signs and other measures tied to discharge criteria Treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia Update charts, patient files, and medical records in a timely and accurate manner Monitor patients for condition changes, facilitating timely specialized interventions Provide individualized care for patients in accordance with surgical procedure undertaken, age level, and health status Create and maintains positive, personal, and warm atmosphere around the patient and their family Educate patients and their families on post-surgery care, as well as answering questions in a timely and complete manner Maintain patient confidentiality Maintain supplies and medications under the direction of the Clinical Director Routinely inventories and reorders necessary supplies and materials under guidance of Clinical Director Attend required meetings and participates in committees, drills as requested Provide flexibility by helping in other areas of Institute such as the

Pain Suite and Imaging Center Skills/Requirements:
