$74,484.00 -$122,907.00 The “STAT” level Clinical Support Nurse is responsiblefor identifying the patient’s alterations in health, assessing thepatient’s human response to actual and potential health problems,implementing nursing interventions to achieve outcomes for thepatient that facilitate homeostasis, and determining theeffectiveness of nursing interventions. The STAT Nurse makesindependent decisions/judgments and takes action regarding a widerange of routine and complex patient problems and situations basedon protocol. They will collaborate with other disciplines asappropriate, to coordinate continuity of patient care in support ofmedical and nursing plans of care. The STAT Nurse acts to supportpatient care needs in any acute medical/surgical unit, intensivecare unit, and Emergency Department.

Hourly Range:

$35.81 – 59.09The STAT team is a group of critical care trained professionalnurses who are available 24/7 for any issue within the hospital andmedical college. STAT nurses provide specialized care to allpatients, employees, and visitors requiring acute medical attentionat Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College. The teammembers also contribute their knowledge to educate staff, patients,and families to recognize clinical deterioration and how to make aproactive assessment and observation for patients at risk fordeterioration. STAT team members give MOCK code training for nursesand ancillary staff to help facilitate better outcome in codesituations.

STAT Nurses respond to:

Code stroke, Code Thrombectomy,Code STEMI, Code 10, Anesthesia Emergency, Code Blue, CodeMalignant Hyperthermia, Code Pink, and Rapid Response pages. Anyemployee with questions about hospital policies, procedures, orpatient care.

STAT Nurses will:

Use problem focused physical examsto evaluate and treat patients according to protocols. Stabilizedecompensating patients on the floor and in ICUs. Manage ICUpatients on the floor. Facilitate movement of patients to higherlevel of care when needed. Use the chain of command when resolvingissues. Assist visitors and staff to ED after a Code Gray.

Administer IV push medications on applicable floors (ex. Cardizem,Amiodarone, Hydralazine).

Education Requirements:

Graduate of aprofessional academic nursing program. Holds current RNRegistration to practice in the State of New York.

Experience:

Aminimum of three (3) years recent Intensive Care clinicalexperience in specific patient populations served. BLS/ACLScertified.

Communication Skills:

Communicates effectively withpatients, family members, employees, and others. Listens activelyand verifies and clarifies messages. Seeks the input of others toachieve consensus. Applies problem solving, negotiating, andconflict resolution skills into communication. Utilizes Chain ofCommand, as needed, to reach optimum outcomes. Reads and interpretsdocuments such as Quality Reports and Hospital Policy andProcedures. Ensures that patient care is documented on establishedforms.

Reasoning Ability:

Identifies problems, collects data,establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Solves practicalproblems and deals with a variety of situations where only limitedstandardization exists.
