UT Health Athens is a 127-licensed-bed facility with an averagedaily census of 60 patients. Our Surgery Department encompasses DaySurgery, Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit(PACU), Operating Room (OR), and Sterile Processing Department(SPD), supported by a dedicated team of 30 full-time equivalents(FTEs). We perform approximately 250 surgical cases each monthacross multiple specialties, including orthopedics, ENT, urology,pain management, podiatry, gynecology, and general surgery. Ourorthopedic team utilizes the Mako robotic system, and we arepreparing to expand into da Vinci robotic-assisted procedures forgynecology, urology, and general surgery. The ideal candidate willhave experience with robotic surgery and a strong commitment toclinical excellence
POSITION SUMMARY
The Nurse Director is aprofessional registered nurse with twenty-four hour responsibilityfor assigned departments within established standards to achievethe mission and vision of the organization. The Nursing Director isresponsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation ofthe unit/departments and executes supervisory responsibilities inaccordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
The Nurse Director provides leadership and mentorship in thedevelopment of leaders and staff. The Nurse Director is responsiblefor monitoring and evaluating quality, patient satisfaction andemployee satisfaction outcomes to implement strategies forimprovement. The Nurse Director is a change agent, and willestablish strong collaborative relationships with physicians.
Responsible for overall administrative, financial and clinicalactivities of assigned departments. Responsibilities Executesstrategic planning, leads mentoring/coaching and identifyingdepartment succession strategy. Oversight of physicianrelationships and engagement. Collaborates with marketing andnursing leadership in marketing, community outreach, andvisibility. Development and oversight of quality initiatives,staffing and productivity guidelines, and customer service goals.
Analyzes and monitors compliance with accrediting and regulatoryagency standards. Plans and organizes orientation and in-servicetraining for staff members, and participates in guidance andeducational programs. Develops, implements and evaluates policies,standards and programs that supports unit/departments. Develops andsubmits budget strategies and capital budgets for theunit/departments. Uses forecasted budget to guide expendituredecisions. Initiates activities to enhance revenues and supportcost reduction and containment activities. Demonstrates empathy,intentionally works to put others at ease. Qualifications Education& Experience Bachelor’s in Nursing from an accredited school ofnursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing and/or related field,preferred. Minimum of five (or 3-5)years’ clinical nursingexperience of which 3 (or 2)years must have been in managementcapacity. Certification in clinical specialty or nursingadministration, preferred. Mako and Davinci robotics expereincepreferred. Current RN license or current license deemed acceptableby the applicable State Board of Nursing. Knowledge, Skills &Abilities Requires strong verbal and written communication andinterpersonal skills.
