Required Qualifications:
  • One year of recent Med Surg RNexperience
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC)
Certification Preferred Qualifications:
  • NIHSS certification
  • ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
  • Othercertifications and licenses may be required for this position
Summary:

The Med Surg Registered Nurse delivers comprehensivehigh-quality, patient-centered care in medical-surgical andtelemetry units. This role involves assessing patient healthconditions, monitoring cardiac telemetry data, and collaboratingwith multidisciplinary teams to manage diverse patient needs. Theposition requires strong clinical skills in med-surg and telemetrynursing, critical thinking abilities, excellent communication, anda commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safetyand professional ethics.

Essential Work Functions:
  • Explainsprocedures and treatments to patients and families, addressingconcerns and ensuring understanding
  • Administers prescribedmedications and treatments in adherence to nursing standards
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ conditions,documenting changes and reporting concerns to the care team
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physiciansduring treatments, and monitor patient responses
  • Maintains a safeand comfortable environment for patients recovering from medicalconditions or surgical procedures
  • Document comprehensive patientinformation, including vital signs, medications, treatments, andcare outcomes, in the medical record
  • Collaborate withinterdisciplinary teams, including physicians, physical therapists,and social workers, to create and implement individualized careplans
  • Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing carebased on acuity and clinical needs
  • Ensure infection controlpractices are strictly followed, including hand hygiene and PPE use
  • Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences, ensuring they arerespected and integrated into the care plan
  • Facilitate dischargeplanning, coordinating with patients, families, and externalresources to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines,and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
  • Criticalthinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communicationskills
  • The ability to read, write, & communicate in the Englishlanguage is required
  • Ability to read/comprehend writteninstructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PCskills
  • Physical Abilities
  • Remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • To work effectively with a variety ofpersonnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills
  • Ability tograsp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move aboutwhen assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
  • Mental Requirements
  • Must be able to cope with frequent contactwith the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines underpressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionallyas well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must beable to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
