Required Qualifications:
One year of recentexperience as an Endoscopy nurse Valid RN license in compliancewith state regulations Current BLS (AHA/ARC)
CertificationPreferred Qualifications:
ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC) Othercertifications and licenses may be required for this position
Summary:
The Endoscopy Registered Nurse is responsible forproviding comprehensive patient care in endoscopic procedures. Thisrole involves assessing patients, implementing care plans,assisting with endoscopic procedures, administering treatments, andcollaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality,patient-centered care. Strong clinical expertise in endoscopy,critical thinking, excellent communication, and a commitment tomaintaining the highest standards of patient safety andprofessional ethics are essential for success in this role.
Essential Work Functions:
Educate and explain endoscopic proceduresand treatments to patients and family Administer prescribedmedications and treatments in accordance with approved nursingtechniques for endoscopy Prepare endoscopic equipment and assistphysicians during endoscopic examinations and treatments Monitorpatient safety and comfort throughout endoscopic procedures,ensuring adherence to safety protocols Observe and documentpatients’ conditions and reactions to medications and treatments,promptly notifying supervisors or physicians of significant changesTake and record, assess patient condition, and respondappropriately in the endoscopy setting Conduct nursing assessmentsand document findings in patient medical records accurately andtimely Collaborate with gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, andother team members to provide comprehensive care Handle specimenswith precision and care to maintain diagnostic integrity and followinstitutional protocols Stay informed about advancements inendoscopy nursing and incorporate evidence-based practices intocare delivery Perform other duties as assigned within the scope ofpractice Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection controlguidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills The ability to read, write, & communicate inthe English language is required Ability to read/comprehend writteninstructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PCskills Physical Abilities
- Remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bendingInterpersonal Skills
- To work effectively with a variety ofpersonnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability tograsp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move aboutwhen assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
Mental Requirements
- Must be able to cope with frequent contactwith the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines underpressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionallyas well as working without assistance from other personnel.
