Do you want to be a part of a nationally acclaimed cardiac program? Do you want to thrive in a complex and fast-paced environment? Then 6E, a cardiovascular surgical unit, is the place for you! On 6E you will be working with chest tubes, surgical wounds, hanging blood, anti-arrhythmic drugs, inotropes, pacing wires, trachs and LVADs.

Patient Population/Typical Diagnoses:
heart transplantation, coronary bypass grafts (CABGs), valve repairs or replacement, thoracic aneurysm repair, congenital heart defect repair, and ventricular assist devices (VADs).
Targeted Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:
1:3-4 6E was recognized during the 2023 ANCC Magnet recertification as an Exemplar for supporting nurses’ participation in inter-professional collaborative practices for daily in-person Interdisciplinary Rounds (IDRs) with our APPs, nutrition, social work, physical therapy, and nursing. Job Description Identifies training needs and participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of staff development programs within an assigned area of responsibility. Demonstrates expertise in the roles of teacher, practitioner, manager, and researcher. Provides input into the development of the departmental budget. Acts as an educational consultant to nursing staff. Develops and delivers training content. Assist in development and in the production of educational packets. Handles logistics for training seminars by establishing program agendas, arranging for facilities and refreshments, and scheduling speakers. Serves as a preceptor in the development of nurse teachers and/or nurse managers. Develops methods and materials to communicate the availability of training programs. Maintains course participation records. Develops and conducts training courses by determining and using the most appropriate methods for adult learning. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. Four years of nursing experience which includes one year of teaching experience. BLS certification required, ASCL preferred. Masters degree required. MSN in Nursing Education preferred.
