Travel A Registered Nurse (RN)in the Float Pool is a versatile and adaptable nursing professionalwho provides care across various departments or units within ahealthcare facility, as needed. Float pool nurses are trained tohandle a wide range of patient care situations and are called uponto “float” between different departments, such as medical-surgical,critical care, emergency, pediatrics, or labor and delivery, basedon the hospital’s staffing needs. This role requires strongclinical skills, the ability to adapt quickly to differentenvironments, and excellent communication and problem-solvingabilities. /n/n
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:
/n /n
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis,planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions./n
- Monitor and document patients’ vital signs, symptoms, andconditions, and report any changes to the appropriate healthcareteam members. /n
- Administer medications, treatments, andtherapies as prescribed by the physician. /n
- Ensure patientsafety by following clinical protocols, infection control measures,and providing appropriate interventions to prevent complications./n
- Assist with procedures and treatments in various departments,depending on patient needs and unit assignments.

Adaptability Across Units:

- Work in different patient caresettings, adjusting to the needs of diverse patient populations anddepartments (e.g., med-surg, ICU, ED, pediatrics, labor anddelivery). /n
- Quickly familiarize oneself with unit-specificprotocols, equipment, and workflows. /n
- Collaborate with unitteams, providing support wherever staffing shortages or increasedpatient volume occur. /n
- Be flexible with shifting between unitsand adapting to the varied demands of different patient care areas.

Healthcare Teams:

- Workclosely with physicians, nurse practitioners, other nurses, andhealthcare support staff to deliver optimal patient care. /n
- Participate in patient rounds, provide updates on patientconditions, and assist in care planning and delivery. /n
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcareteam to ensure continuity of care, informed consent, and patienteducation.

Patient Education:

- Educatepatients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans,medications, and self-care post-discharge. /n
- Provide emotionalsupport to patients and families, especially in acute or complexsituations. /n
- Ensure patients understand their care plans andare prepared for any necessary procedures or dischargeinstructions.

Clinical Documentation:

- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patientassessments, treatments, medications, and care plans in theelectronic health record (EHR). /n
- Ensure that all patientrecords are compliant with hospital policies, legal requirements,and confidentiality standards (e.

Infection Control and Safety:

- Adhere to infection controlguidelines, including proper hand hygiene, personal protectiveequipment (PPE) use, and sterilization practices. /n
- Ensure asafe environment for patients, staff, and visitors by followingsafety protocols and reporting hazards.

Emergencyand Critical Care Support:

- Respond quickly to emergencysituations (e.g., code blue, trauma) and provide necessarylife-saving interventions. /n
- Work under pressure, especially infast-paced environments, to provide critical care to patients inemergency departments, ICUs, or other high-acuity areas. /n
- Beprepared to manage and prioritize a high caseload, particularlyduring staffing shortages or high patient volumes.

Staffing Support and Flexibility:

- Serve as a flexibleresource for departments experiencing staff shortages or increasedpatient volume. /n
- Assist with staffing gaps due to absences,vacations, or high patient acuity, while maintaining high standardsof patient care. /n
- Maintain flexibility to work various shifts,including weekends, nights, and holidays, depending on unit needs.
