Required Qualifications:

One year of recent Med Surg RNexperience Valid RN license in compliance with state regulationsCurrent BLS (AHA/ARC)

Certification Preferred Qualifications:

NIHSScertification ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification Other certifications andlicenses may be required for this position

Summary:

The Med SurgRegistered Nurse delivers comprehensive high-quality,patient-centered care in medical-surgical and telemetry units. Thisrole involves assessing patient health conditions, monitoringcardiac telemetry data, and collaborating with multidisciplinaryteams to manage diverse patient needs. The position requires strongclinical skills in med-surg and telemetry nursing, criticalthinking abilities, excellent communication, and a commitment tomaintaining the highest standards of patient safety andprofessional ethics.

Essential Work Functions:

Explains proceduresand treatments to patients and families, addressing concerns andensuring understanding Administers prescribed medications andtreatments in adherence to nursing standards Conduct comprehensiveassessments of patients’ conditions, documenting changes andreporting concerns to the care team Prepare patients for diagnosticprocedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitorpatient responses Maintains a safe and comfortable environment forpatients recovering from medical conditions or surgical proceduresDocument comprehensive patient information, including vital signs,medications, treatments, and care outcomes, in the medical recordCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians,physical therapists, and social workers, to create and implementindividualized care plans Manage multiple patients efficiently,prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs Ensureinfection control practices are strictly followed, including handhygiene and PPE use Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences,ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care planFacilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients,families, and external resources to ensure a smooth transition fromhospital to home Perform other duties as assigned within the scopeof practice Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection controlguidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills:

Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills The ability to read, write, & communicate inthe English language is required Ability to read/comprehend writteninstructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PCskills Physical Abilities
