Required Qualifications:
One year of recent experience as an Endoscopy nurse Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS (AHA/ARC)
CertificationPreferred Qualifications:
ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC) Other certifications and licenses may be required for thisposition
Summary:
The Endoscopy Registered Nurse is responsible forproviding comprehensive patient care in endoscopic procedures. Thisrole involves assessing patients, implementing care plans,assisting with endoscopic procedures, administering treatments, andcollaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality,patient-centered care. Strong clinical expertise in endoscopy,critical thinking, excellent communication, and a commitment tomaintaining the highest standards of patient safety andprofessional ethics are essential for success in thisrole.
Essential Work Functions:
Educate and explain endoscopic procedures and treatments topatients and family Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordancewith approved nursing techniques for endoscopy Prepare endoscopic equipment and assist physicians duringendoscopic examinations and treatments Monitor patient safety and comfort throughout endoscopicprocedures, ensuring adherence to safety protocols Observe and document patients’ conditions and reactions tomedications and treatments, promptly notifying supervisors orphysicians of significant changes Take and record, assess patient condition, and respondappropriately in the endoscopy setting Conduct nursing assessments and document findings in patientmedical records accurately and timely Collaborate with gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, andother team members to provide comprehensive care Handle specimens with precision and care to maintain diagnosticintegrity and follow institutional protocols Stay informed about advancements in endoscopy nursing andincorporate evidence-based practices into care delivery Perform other duties as assigned within the scope ofpractice Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection controlguidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills The ability to read, write, & communicate in the Englishlanguage is required Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbalinstructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities
- Remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending Interpersonal Skills
- To work effectively with a variety ofpersonnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment. Mental Requirements
- Must be able to cope with frequentcontact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlinesunder pressure. Must be able to work under close supervisionoccasionally as well as working without assistance from otherpersonnel.
