• Position Summary The Med/Surg unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center embodies aculture of teamwork and effective communication, essential forproviding care to patients.

This is a 64-bed unit that ensurespatients receive optimal medical attention and support. We striveto create places where patients choose to come for healthcare,where providers desire to practice, and Team Members want towork. The RN

• Medical Surgical Unit provides direct patient care topatients using the nursing process in accordance with applicablescope and standards of practice.

Assesses the patient’s condition and nursing care needs Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meetphysical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs ofpatients Develops individual nursing care plans Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed Evaluates patient care outcomes Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees Administers medications, treatments and therapies. Communicates with patients and oversees provision of care. Provides patients and/or family with instruction and educationrelevant to condition. Accurately documents nursing observations, assessments,medications, treatments, and other care given. Required Skills Critical thinking skills Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimalsupervision. Capable of working in a stressful environment and takingappropriate action.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

Associate’s degree required Bachelor’s degree preferred

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire

Licenses:

• Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky.
