Weekend RN MDS Coordinator 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 3235 Newnan Rd, Griffin, GA 30223 Brightmoor Nursing Center is seeking to add another MDS Coordinator to add to our Leadership team! Coordination of the facility’s Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process in accordance with state and federal regulations. Accurate completion of all MDS assessments and any supporting assessments or clinical documentation. Auditing medical records for the presence of supporting documentation for all items coded on the MDS. Provide education to department heads, physicians, and other staff as needed. Collaborating with health plans, physicians and the interdisciplinary team for assuring insurance approvals and/or that residents meet eligibility and coverage criteria. Interpreting rules, regulations and coverage guidelines and acting as primary resource for problem solving in regards to the SNF prospective payment system and quality reporting program. MDS Coordinator is responsible for gathering information on a healthcare facility’s current and future patients for future assessment, including physical and mental states. MDS coordinators assess charts and communicate with health care teams to create applicable health care plans for their current and incoming residents. Participate in the admission process of prospective residents in terms of their nursing needs and appropriate placement Determine potential Resource Utilization Groups (RUGs) and expense associated with a potential admission Review all applications for admission, followed by on-site or phone assessment and communicate results of assessment to the Admissions Coordinator Complete and assure the accuracy of the MDS process for all residents Maintain current working knowledge of Medicare criteria, serving as a resource for nursing staff and communicate changes in regulations Monitor Case Mix Index (CMI) scores, looking for potential risks and/or changes that may affect Medicaid reimbursement Facilitate problem-solving for complicated admissions Monitor Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and timely submission
