DESCRIPTION
Sterling Surgical Hospital is currently accepting applications for Registered Nurses in our post-surgical unit. We are in search of nightshift. ICU experience preferred. Sterling Surgical Hospital is located in Slidell, La. We are a 10 bed surgical hospital that specializes in many different types of surgical procedures. Because of our small size, we are able to give very detailed and personalized surgical care. We are seeking highly motivated, success-driven individuals to be part of our dynamic team of healthcare professionals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. Administers and controls narcotics and medications. Administers blood products, IV medications and TPN. Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members. Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient’s medical treatment. Maintains patient documentation. Participates in the planning and implementation of the patient’s care. Coordinates post-operative discharge. Ensures that patient is ready for discharge. Explains medications in criteria. Ensures that patients understand post-operative instructions. Checks identification of patient, including surgical permit, lab work, x-ray reports, and allergies. Reports any change in physical status of patient. Completes all documentation per Policies and Procedures. Responds quickly in any circumstance. Cares for patients professionally and courteously. Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations. Identifies opportunities to standardize processes and error proof systems that will lead to increased safety and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. Participates in Quality Improvement programs on a regular and continuing basis. Participates in compliance programs such as HIPAA, safety training etc. Supervises nursing care given to patients. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Licensed in the state of Louisiana as a Registered Nurse At least one (1) or more years of proven success working as an RN with ortho/neuro and/or medical surgical experience Possess the ability to work well with others Demonstrated skills and knowledge of excellent patient care Strong patient service/solutions focus Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills Benefits and insurance are available for Full-Time We offer medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, basic and voluntary life, accidental, critical illness and hospital insurance.
