TITLE OF POSITION
Long-Term Substitute School Nurse
LOCATION
Orleans Elementary School
DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT
OF
POSITION
Duties include managing a busy health office, maintaining health records, dispensing medication, implementing health mandates, providing support to families, students, and staff and other duties as assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
DESE Licensed MA School Nurse preferred
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Nursing
Demonstrated success in establishing an environment that integrates caring, kindness, and respect for all into nursing practice.
Experience in child health nursing (preferably school setting)
Experience/training with pediatric emergencies, postural screening, school nursing, vision & hearing testing, diabetes care, health assessments, counseling parents in positive child-rearing practices, and BMI assessments
Knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agency, and other community resources
Proficiency with computer skills
Ability to be flexible and efficient in a busy setting and to collaborate on a regular basis
Demonstrates sound judgment reflecting integrity and trustworthiness, and protects student confidentiality
Engages in effective open dialogue – Consistently uses effective written, verbal, nonverbal, and visual communication skills
Detail oriented
SALARY:
Per Prevailing Teacher’s Contract
