RequiredQualifications:

One year of recent experience as a behavioralhealth RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulationsCurrent BLS (AHA/ARC)

Certification Preferred Qualifications:

ACLSCertifications (AHA/ARC) CPI Certification Other certifications andlicenses may be required for this position

Summary:

BehavioralHealth nurses assess, diagnose, and address the mental health needsof individuals, families, and communities. They work withindividuals, families, groups, and communities to develop a nursingdiagnosis and plan of care. They collaborate with interdisciplinaryteams, and continuously evaluate outcomes to provide compassionate,evidence-based care in mental health settings.

Essential WorkFunctions:

Perform comprehensive mental health assessments anddocument findings using evidence-based tools Collaborate withinterdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, socialworkers, and case managers, to develop patient-centered care plansProvides and coordinates patient care with other health teammembers Monitors patients’ responses to interventions and reportsoutcomes and adjusting care plans as needed Administers medicationsas ordered with appropriate documentation educating patients abouttheir use, side effects, and adherence Support patients duringmedical procedures relevant to mental health care, such as ECT orcrisis interventions, and monitor their responses Performs otherduties as assigned within scope of practice Adhere to hospitalsafety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatorystandards Advocates for patients’ needs and rights, ensuringculturally sensitive and ethical care delivery Participate inquality improvement initiatives to enhance psychiatric nursingpractice Educate patients and families about mental healthconditions, coping strategies, and available resources Completeaccurate, timely documentation to support legal, clinical, andoperational requirements

Required Essential Skills:

Criticalthinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communicationskills The ability to read, write, & communicate in the Englishlanguage is required Ability to read/comprehend writteninstructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PCskills Physical Abilities

• Remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bendingInterpersonal Skills
• To work effectively with a variety ofpersonnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills
• Ability tograsp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move aboutwhen assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.

Mental Requirements

• Must be able to cope with frequent contactwith the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines underpressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionallyas well as working without assistance from other personnel.
