LABBB Collaborative provides educational programming and support services for over 300 special needs students from over 65 districts. LABBB serves students ages 3 to 22 years old with a variety of special needs including students on the autism spectrum, students with multi-handicaps, pervasive development disorders, developmental delays, language deficits and social/emotional challenges. The LABBB community has a vision of skill-based instruction that considers the whole student from early childhood to adult living. About the role:

The LABBB School Nurse Leader supervises and clinically evaluates all clinical nursing staff providing services in the school health program. We are looking for someone with the understanding and patience to relate to students with different abilities. Refines and develops professional skills through in-service training, professional reading and continuing education. Maintains knowledge and character to handle situations under pressure. Demonstrates leadership qualities with the ability to complete record keeping in an accurate and precise manner. The candidate will have strong computer skills plus excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with students, parents/guardians, staff, administration, and co-nurses.

Job Requirements:

Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Massachusetts Possess a minimum of a Baccalaureate in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (A Masters Degree in nursing preferred) DESE Licensure as a School Nurse (ESE) (initial or professional) Proficiency with SNAP electronic health record (EHR) software Minimum of three (3)-years experience as a School Nurse (with some experience in administration, preferred) Maintain certification in First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers Responsibilities highlighted below: Documentation Development and oversight of handbooks, manuals, paperwork, reports, documentation, health records, release and consent forms Maintains up-to-date cumulative electronic and paper health records on all LABBB Collaborative students Maintains confidentiality of student educational information according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Maintain confidentiality of protected health information according to HIPPA when indicated Professional Relationships Establishes and maintains relationship with Consulting Physician Coordinates communication with the district school nurse leaders and host school nurses in locations housing LABBB Collaborative programs Participates and actively represents LABBB Collaborative at professional nursing organizations (MECNA, etc.) Develop and maintain relationships with nursing preparation programs to establish training relationships, placements, and recruitment for highly specialized school nursing School Nurse Supervision Promotes organizational vision and mission in leadership for nursing staff Provides clinical nursing supervision and evaluation of all nursing staff in contribution to comprehensive performance evaluations in conjunction with Program Administrator(s) Orients new nursing staff and per-diem nursing staff Periodic records review and observation of nurses School Nurse Staffing Coordinates the delivery of nurse services Determines nursing needs and recommends appropriate nursing staffing Scheduling decisions for service delivery based on individual student and school needs.

Coordinates substitute nursing coverage Assigns or recruits nurses to develop a pool of per diem nurses, as well as to recruit high quality nurses when there is a vacancy Reviews and approves nurse requests for time off, reimbursement, expenditures, etc. with Program Administrators for each program School Health Program Development and Management Works with the standard operating procedures and protocols of the LABBB Collaborative Exhibits knowledge of clinical theory and its application as it relates to students health needs and their relationship to educational access Adheres to established federal, state and local laws and regulations Assume responsibility for updating knowledge and skills in community health, management, and related fields as new information emergesMaintains current knowledge of DPH and DESE regulations related to school health Ensures all LABBB Collaborative programs meet DPH and DESE health standardsMedicare/Medicaid knowledge. Develop guidelines, forms, and procedures in areas relevant to the provision of nursing services Acts in collaboration with Program Administrators to ensure the health and safety of collaborative staff and students Acts as a member of the LABBB Collaborative Leadership team while including nursing/medical perspective to LABBB Collaborative planning Plans, coordinates and/or performs in-service training as required by DESE for program approvals such as Medication Administration, Epi-Pen & Medication Delegation Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians and clinics and other agencies on Collaborative health matters Participates in referral process of potential students when indicated Coordinates budget planning, acquisition and distribution of medical supplies and equipment in coordination with Program Administrators Development of protocol and procedures to address mandated school-based screening.

Oversight of LABBB Recreational / Afterschool Programming.

Salary Range:

$110,000 to $120,000 Commensurate with experience and education. Full-time 12 month position
