This position would include working as both a floor nurse and phone triage nurse on a rotating basis. The pediatric nurse will discuss a child’s symptoms and medical history, provide initial care, administer prescribed medication, and monitor the patient’s progress. The pediatric nurse will also provide support to families and work with them to address their concerns, fears, problems, and options. To be a successful pediatric nurse, you should be kind, compassionate, and caring towards children and families. You should have a broad knowledge of general pediatric nursing care and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Floor Essential Job Responsibilities:
Provides care for a pediatric patient population that includes birth through 20 years of age Collaborate and coordinate with other healthcare team members to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise each child’s plan of care Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and procedures Initiates and participates in patient/family education and serves as a facilitator of family-focused care Performs administrative duties, such as filling in school and camp forms, as needed Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner on the appropriate forms and EHR Engages in various educational and professional development trainings to enhance their ability to provide effective, efficient, and quality care Possess strong verbal communication skills with both patients/families and other healthcare team members Possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to build trusting relationships with patients/families
Phone Essential Job Responsibilities:

Education:
Completion of an accredited nursing program A bachelor’s or associate’s degree in nursing Possesses a Massachusetts’s state nursing license
Preferred:
1+ year hospital experience and/or 1+ year pediatrician’s office experience 1+ year Prior phone triage experience
