8:00am to 4:30pm (No weekends/holidays) OurPediatric Endocrinology division located in Albany, NY is seeking adynamic RN to join and be part of the Bernard & Millie DukerChildren’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center team. We offer afriendly team-oriented work environment centered on efficient,compassionate patient care. The Ambulatory RN may provide directpatient care, patient triage, assessment, planning and evaluationof a patient’s specific care. The Ambulatory RN collaborates withother members of the Pediatric Endocrinology Care Team to providecomprehensive care for children and adolescents with endocrinedisorders and diabetes mellitus. The RN will triage patient phonecalls and collaborate follow up. Excellent communication andcritical thinking skills are a must. The RN Ambulatory assists withpatient teaching for patients with Type I Diabetes and Endocrinedisorders and provides support and advocacy for all patients withinthe Pediatric Endocrine division. Under the direction of thepractice physician and/or advanced practice provider (APP) and thesupervision of the Nurse Manager (RN) and/or Nurse Supervisor (RN),the RN may provide direct patient care, patient triage (in-personand telephonic), assessment, planning, directing and evaluating ofa patient’s specific care plan and clinic visit. Able to workeffectively within a team of multi-specialty professionalsEssential Duties and Responsibilities include: Obtains andaccurately record patient’s vital signs; reports abnormal values totreating provider Obtains and documents a patient’s history(Medical, Surgical and Social) and focused physical assessment,related to the clinic visit and as dictated by clinic procedureAdministers medications and treatments to patients in clinic, underthe direction of a physician or APP Participates in in-officeprocedure, as related to clinic specialty, under the direction andsupervision of a Physician or APP and documents results in EHRPerforms review and triage of incoming test results, patientrequests and pharmacy renewals; facilitates call-backs to patientsas necessary Facilitates the utilization of resources to meetpatient outcomes and contribute to Facility (AMC), New York Stateand National Quality data metrics Delegates tasks deemedappropriate per licensure of LPN and/or MA Adheres to AMC’sregulatory agency (The Joint Commission) and internal compliancepolicies Orientation and education of newly hired staff Completescontinuous/annual education related to Clinic specialty to maintainknowledge base on current practices Provides education to patientsrelated to their visit and overall health and wellness
MinimumQualifications:
NYS current RN licensure to practice professionalnursing is required Associate’s degree of a state accreditedRegistered Nursing program is required; Baccalaureate degreepreferred Minimum of 1-3 years clinical RN experience in pediatricsor critical care/emergency nursing preferred Certified DiabetesCare and Education Specialist (CDCES) preferred, not requiredCurrent BLS certification required•obtained upon hire Excellentcustomer service Ability to effectively present information andrespond to questions from physicians, patients and their familymembers or other employees within the work setting. Ability to givemedications via all routes and ability to calculate medicationdoses Effective Written and Verbal Communication Skills WorkingKnowledge of MS Word, Excel, Teams platforms Experience withelectronic health record preferred•EPIC Thank you for yourinterest in Albany Medical Center!?
