This position is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care, managing health records, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. The School Nurse will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and healthcare providers to support the physical and emotional health of students. Responsibilities Assess and evaluate students’ health needs through regular health screenings and assessments. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Maintain accurate medical records for all students, documenting health history, immunizations, and any medical interventions. Monitor vital signs and provide first aid in emergency situations, including managing acute illnesses or injuries. Develop individualized healthcare plans for students with chronic conditions or special needs. Provide education to students and staff on health-related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention. Coordinate with local healthcare providers for referrals and follow-up care as needed. Participate in emergency preparedness planning and respond effectively to health emergencies within the school setting. Skills Strong knowledge of school nursing practices and principles. Experience in geriatrics or emergency medicine is a plus. Proficient in medication administration and understanding of medical records management. Ability to assess vital signs accurately and respond to medical emergencies promptly. Familiarity with clinic operations and best practices in a school environment. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality of student health information. Compassionate care approach with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
