Job Summary:

/nA Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN) specializes in providingcare to patients with mental health disorders, emotionalchallenges, and behavioral issues. KeyResponsibilities:

Patient Assessment and Care:

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, includingevaluating emotional, cognitive, and behavioral functioning. /n
• Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs, incollaboration with the healthcare team. /n
• Monitor patientprogress and adjust care plans as necessary. /n
• Administermedications and monitor for side effects, documenting responsesappropriately.

Crisis Intervention:

• Respondto psychiatric emergencies, such as suicidal ideation, aggressivebehavior, or severe anxiety. /n
• Implement de-escalationtechniques and therapeutic interventions to ensure patient andstaff safety. /n
• Coordinate with the crisis response team whennecessary.

Therapeutic Communication and Support:

• Establish trusting relationships with patients to facilitateopen communication. /n
• Provide emotional support and guidance topatients and their families. /n
• Facilitate group therapy sessionsor educational workshops on mental health topics, as applicable.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Work closelywith psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and otherhealthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care. /n
• Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and needs arerespected. /n
• Assist in discharge planning, connecting patientswith community resources or outpatient services.

Safety and Compliance:

• Maintain a safe environment byfollowing protocols for high-risk patients, including suicideprecautions and restraint use. /n
• Document patient careaccurately and in compliance with legal and ethical standards. /n
• Stay current on best practices in psychiatric nursing and maintainknowledge of mental health laws.

Qualifications:

• Licensure:

  Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicingstate. /n

• Education:

  Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) orBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. /n

• Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. /n
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification /n
• Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (RN-BC) preferred.
