Job Summary :
n An Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care to patients undergoing orthopedic surgeries or treatment for musculoskeletal conditions. The RN focuses on assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients recovering from orthopedic procedures such as joint replacements, fractures, spinal surgeries, and other musculoskeletal disorders. nn
Key Responsibilities :
n n Assess, plan, and provide post-operative and non-surgical care to patients with orthopedic conditions, including joint replacements, fractures, and musculoskeletal disorders. n Administer pain management, medications, and wound care to patients post-surgery. n Monitor patients’ progress, ensuring proper healing, mobility, and pain control. n Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. n Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, rehabilitation, and prevention of complications. n Assist with the use of orthopedic equipment such as braces, splints, and traction devices. n Monitor and manage conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT), wound healing, infections, and mobility issues. n Assist with the application and removal of casts, orthopedic devices, and supports. n Provide guidance and support to patients as they undergo physical therapy and rehabilitation. n Document patient care, treatments, and outcomes in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements. n Respond to orthopedic-related emergencies, such as wound infections or orthopedic device malfunctions. n Advocate for patients, ensuring they receive timely access to orthopedic care and follow-up services. n nn

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted. n
Licensure :
n n Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. n n n
Certification :
n n Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. n Orthopedic Nurse Certification (ONC) preferred. n n n
Experience :
