MaineHealth is currently seeking a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) to join our team at Maine Medical Center – Portland.

Summary:

The Lactation Counselor – MMCP role provides breastfeeding support and education for patients, and families within the Maine Medical Center service. Acts as a lactation counselor by collaborating with IBCLC team to develop individual feeding plans. Functions as a resource within Maine Medical Center. Utilizes evidence-based interventions that will foster optimum infant nutrition.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or Registered Nurse education required.

License/Certifications:

Certification as a CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) by the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice required. Certification by the IBCLC is required within one year of start date. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.

Experience:

Experience in a hospital maternity or neonatal setting preferred.
