The clinical nurse is responsible and accountablefor the overall nursing care management of a designated group ofpatients. They collaborate with the Nursing Director and members ofthe Patient Care Team to achieve efficient patient outcomes. Theyalso collaborate with the patient toward meeting the needs andexpectations of the patient and family. Clinical nurses ensure thatcare is safe, efficient, effective, timely and meets the cultural,spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient and family.
Principalduties and responsibilities:
1. Provides competent, compassionate patient
- and family-centerednursing care based on scientific principles and the use of thenursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork.
a) Provides andmaintains a therapeutic environment for patients and families b)Articulates the professional nursing role to the patient, family,and health team members. c) Identifies, plans, and implementsnursing interventions. Facilitates, and evaluates outcomes ofnursing care for an individual patient or group of patients d)Coordinates involvement of the patient, family, and health teammembers in patient care, including patient/family education,teaching, and discharge planning. e) Documents relevant patientdata / information. f) Communicates the plan of care and otherpertinent information to/from other health care team members.
Promotes continuity of care through effective hand-offs. g) Helpsdefine standards of excellence for patient care; participates inimprovement of patient care services in a cost-effective way. h)Performs specific functions as described in the unit Scope ofService. i) Provides care appropriate to age group of patients onassigned unit(s) as described in relevant unit Scope of Service. j)Participates in, and contributes to, performance improvementactivities. k) Integrates the six aims of performance improvementinto care delivery: (a) Safety
