School Nurse 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars Newcastle, ME 04553 Lincoln Academy, in Newcastle, ME seeks applications for a full-time School Nurse for the 2025-2026 school year. Founded in 1801, Lincoln Academy is an independent Town Academy deeply rooted in the mid-coast communities of central Lincoln County. For 220 years we have served as an educational center for students from more than 15 towns in the region. In addition to our local students, the school enrolls up to 55 international and domestic boarding students. This results in an exciting mix of students, and the school is committed to providing an outstanding education for each of them. Job SummaryThe SBHC Nurse provides direct care to students and oversees the daily operations of the School-Based Health Centera walk-in clinic addressing a range of physical and mental health needs. The nurse collaborates with the SBHC Coordinator, school staff, and external healthcare providers, including MaineHealth, to ensure comprehensive and accessible care.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical CareProvide assessments, first aid, and frontline testing (e.g., strep, rapid tests, UA)Administer vaccines and manage medication disbursement.

Coordinate care plans for students with 504 plans.

Ensure compliance with the Maine Immunization Program.

Track data in PowerSchool and support crisis responseCollaborate regularly with social workers and the athletic trainer.

Operations & ManagementManage day-to-day SBHC operations and supervise the Health Center Coordinator.

Maintain clinical supply budgets and ensure adherence to medical standing orders.

Lead school communication on public health issues.

Coordinate vaccination clinics and liaise with MaineHealth.

Support risk management initiatives across school activitiesHealth Education & TrainingPresent at school-wide meetings and student advisory groupsCollaborate with Health and Wellness staff on curriculum.

Train the Residential Life team, faculty, and staff on health and safety.

Ensure annual staff health training as required by the DOE.Residential Life SupportAdvise Residential Life staff on health issues for boarding students.

Manage secure storage and administration of medications.

Monitor immunizations for international students before graduation.

Additional DutiesServe on the Student Services, Crisis Management, and Emergency Management TeamsSupport health and safety planning for field trips and off-campus events.

Collaborate with kitchen and dorm staff on food allergy and safety protocols.

Maintain AEDs and emergency response kits; coordinate repairs and training.

Attend professional development sessions with local and state school nurse organizations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsCurrent Maine LPN or RN licenseMaine Criminal History Record Check (CHRC)Basic Life Support (BLS) CertificationExperience in a school setting preferred
