They will administer chemotherapy,implement new methods of symptom treatment and monitor theirpatients’ progress. Oncology nurses also create a supportiveenvironment. They may opt to specialize in areas such as pediatrichematology/oncology or breast cancer.
• Provide care for cancerpatients throughout all stages of their conditions, but usuallyfocusing on the acute phase.
• Assist patients ranging frompost-surgical to near-terminal manage their disease and treatmenteffectively, and may also be responsible for administeringchemotherapy.
• Educate cancer patients about treatment options,procedures and particularities of the disease.
