39 The nursing supervisor needs strong leadership skills andbe able to multi-task efficiently. Supervision in a rural hospitalrequires that staff member to be able to take a full assignment inthe ED at times and/or assist the staff (Emergency Dept. &Observation Unit) with critical patients, difficult transports,patient/staff grievances, ED flow issues, and clear communicationto the Nurse Manager. Proficiency in IV therapy, pharmacy, and RTskills is a must as ancillary resources are limited.
