The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Departmentprovides direct and indirect patient care. He/She applies thenursing process to plan and implement the care of patients,including patient and family education and continuum of careplanning. The Registered Nurse must possess good communicationskills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians,peers, patients and families. He/She works collaboratively with allmembers of the healthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered.
Essential Functions Providing nursing care appropriate to thecondition and needs of the patient. Consulting and collaboratingwith physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide careto the patients. Establishing, reviewing, revising and followingthe patient plan of care Administering medications and treatmentswithin the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse Recordingpatient care activities including assessment, reassessment, andongoing treatment notes within the patients’ medical record. Usinga variety of computer systems Operating medical equipment used inthe care of the patient Providing patient and family educationrelated to treatment, diagnosis, medications, discharge andself-care. Providing patient care following nursing standards ofcare in a manner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm topatients, and promotes heath and healing. Oversight of LPNpractices. Unit specific duties. Must be able to read andcommunicate effectively in English Must possess the ability to workunder pressure, to adapt quickly in changing situations, tofunction dependently and independently and to be flexible inapplying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings.

JobRequirements Minimum Education Must possess an active TN RN license or a compact state licensewith the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days of hire.
Required Skills BLS
- current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. ACLS
- current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. PALS
- current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. NRP
- current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. STABLE
- current or must obtain within 90 days from date ofhire. Trauma Nursing Core Certification (TNCC)
- preferred. Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification (ENPC)
- preferred.
