The Registered Nurse in the OB Department providesdirect and indirect patient care. He/She applies the nursingprocess to plan and implement the care of patients, includingpatient and family education and continuum of care planning. TheRegistered Nurse must possess good communication skills and must beable to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patientsand families. He/She works collaboratively with all members of thehealthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered. The RegisteredNurse working in the OB department will care for various types ofpatients including but not limited to antepartum, intrapartum,postpartum, newborn, GYN surgery patients. Will oversee LPNpractices as directed by unit director. Essential FunctionsProviding nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs ofthe patient. Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcareprofessionals to provide care to the patients. Establishing, reviewing, revising and following the patient plan ofcare Administering medications and treatments within the scope ofpractice for a Registered Nurse Recording patient care activities including assessment,reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patient’smedical record. Using a variety of computer systems Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patient Providing patient and family education related to treatment,diagnosis, medications, discharge and self-care. Providing patient care following nursing standards of care in amanner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients,and promotes heath and healing. Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English. Must possess the ability to work under pressure, to adapt quicklyin changing situations, to function dependently and independentlyand to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a varietyof settings. Unit specific duties as assigned. Non-Essential Functions Acceptsall call schedule as directed. Complete all assigned education in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements MinimumEducation Associates Degree in Nursing is required. Bachelor Degree in Nursing is preferred. Required Licenses Tennessee, United States Registered Nurse Must have a current TN RN license or a compact state license orobtain within 30 days from date of hire. Required Skills BLS
