The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Departmentprovides direct and indirect patient care. He/She applies thenursing process to plan and implement the care of patients,including patient and family education and continuum of careplanning. The Registered Nurse must possess good communicationskills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians,peers, patients, and families. He/She works collaboratively withall members of the healthcare team to ensure quality care isdelivered. Essential Functions Providing nursing care appropriateto the condition and needs of the patient. Consulting andcollaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals toprovide care to the patients. Establishing, reviewing, revising,and following the patient plan of care Administering medicationsand treatments within the scope of practice for a Registered NurseRecording patient care activities including assessment,reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patient’smedical record. Using a variety of computer systems Operatingmedical equipment used in the care of the patient. Providingpatient and family education related to treatment, diagnosis,medications, discharge, and self-care. Providing patient carefollowing nursing standards of care in a manner that promotesexcellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients, and promotes heath andhealing. The ability and willingness to follow establishedStandards of Performance Must be able to read and communicateeffectively in English. Must possess the ability to work underpressure, to adapt quickly in changing situations, to functiondependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basicnursing knowledge to a variety of settings.

Qualifications:

MinimumEducation Must possess an active TN RN license or a compact state licensewith the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days of hire.

Required Skills Must have current BLS/CPR certification within 12 months ofhire Must obtain ACLS within 12 months of hire PALS within 12 months of hire HWC within 12 months of hire
