Division 2100 is a fast paced high risk cardiology division atBarnes-Jewish Hospital. We care for a variety of cardiologypatients including congestive heart failure, left ventricularassist devices, post cardiac device implantation, post EP and Stentprocedures. The Staff Nurse (RN) is an integral part of the patientcare team using critical thinking skills and clinical expertise tocontinually assess the patients’ status. The Staff Nurse (RN) mustbe certified in BLS and obtain ACLS certification within 1 year ofworking on the division. Preferred Qualifications Role PurposeProvides direct patient care activities including assessment,diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within theguidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities
- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illnessor injury, including post treatment home care needs and medicationadministration.
- Participates in activities that promote patientsafety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates inprofessional development.
- Develops, implements, and documentsindividual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration withother members of the interprofessional team and patient, family orcaregiver in accordance with the established guidelines andstandards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensurescommunication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical,psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care,including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, andpopulation-specific needs.
